Hi everybody,

It's been a hectic few weeks for us, having been all over Europe and back. Read on for our thrilling tales and upcoming adventures...

Getting down in Silkeborg, Denmark

The Riverboat Jazz Festival
The "Cave of Jazz" in Paris

As well as a host of shows closer to home we have also recently been over the water to Silkeborg in Denmark where we played three shows in two days at the Riverboat Jazz Festival.

Then, right after Summertime Swing (see separate full report below) we headed to Paris for two nights at the historic Caveau de la Huchette right next to the Notre Dame Cathedral. It is the oldest jazz club in Paris having opened it's doors for hot music in 1946. Before that it was a Knights Templar haunt, then a secret masonic lodge and then it played a part in the war where the French resistance hung out and the GIs first taught the French gals how to Jitterbug and now its stands as "Le Temple Du Jazz" in the heart of the Parisian Latin quarter.

Then it was South to Montauban for a jazz festival inside the remains of an old Roman fort.

Then we headed straight up to the mediaeval town of Bruges in Belgium for a big festival in conjunction with Radio Modern (who's new, three-disc, swinging compilation features a track of ours) before driving home again.

Two days later we flew off to Haugesund for the Sildajazz Festival in Norway for several days, each night ending off with a bowl of the famous fish soup.

After arriving back at Stansted airport we shot up to Edinburgh for the utter madness of the Fringe where anything and everything happens!

Apart from our own six nights at the Grosvenor Hilton where we shared the stage with the rubber faced Phil Cool and British Queen of the Blues, Dana Gilespie, we played day and night on Castle Street, the Royal Mile, the SweetHeart venue and even Mervyn Stutter's Pick of the Fringe show, in true Fringe style, shamelessly self-promoting our show!

We even met up with our old pal Lionel Blair who was in town doing two of his own shows, one of which we got to see called "A Tap And A Chat". As you may know we recorded a tribute to Fred Astaire with Lionel a few years ago and he is eager for a follow up so watch this space...

To top it off, one of our all-time heroes, Keely Smith and her daughter Toni Elizabeth Prima have been on tour with us the whole time since Summertime Swing and Toni has been singing with us every night!

Yes, it is time for a days rest I think!

Kenny and Keith Ball

Summertime Swing 2009 was a howling success this year, a big thanks to all of the more than 1100 of you who attended, including our special guest of honour, Dame Vera Lynn, and we hope you all had as great a time as we did in the glorious sunshine!

A huge thanks to all the performers which included Keely Smith, Kenny Ball, Mary Jean Lewis, Keith Ball, The Flirtinis and Cody Lee. Also thanks to the surprise guests; KAS the new Forces Sweetheart, Red Yvette and the Soggy Bottom Boys for adding to the fun.

An explosive thanks to the amazing Frontier Fireworks for providing a breathtaking show. There are some stunning pictures in the photo gallery (see below) but even they don't do the spectacular display justice!

Lastly, a huge thanks to all the staff at Saint Hill Manor and volunteers on the day and to to all those that helped us sell tickets and promote the event. We could not have done it without you.

All totaled it looks like we raised about £2000 for The Bluebell Railway this year to help them extend the line to East Grinstead and also help keep and restore this beautiful national treasure.

We have included a few choice pictures here but for the full album go to the photo album page on Facebook by clicking HERE.

We have a date for next year's Summertime Swing already so mark the date in your calendars now. It's Sunday 1st August, 2010. Tickets will be on sale soon so look out for details soon.
